Acupuncture/Dry Needling

Acupuncture and Dry Needling are forms of treatment where very fine needles are inserted into the tissues in order to assist with pain relief, reduce inflammation, improve local immune/healing responses and relax muscle spasm.
Dry Needling involves inserting the needles into areas of myofascial (muscle) tension or ‘knots’. As the needles are inserted the muscle responds to the invasion, sometimes with a twitch response, and the muscle then relaxes, releasing the ‘knot’ and reducing the pain. This can be very effective for helping overuse injuries such as tendinopathy, muscle imbalance, neck and back pain, and more.
Acupuncture, on the other hand, is an Eastern Medicine approach in which needles are placed along meridian lines to restore the body’s Qi flow (yin and yan). It is also thought to cause neurophysiological reactions in the body and stimulate a healing effect. Acupuncture is commonly used for pain management with chronic conditions.
